Bob Tunks

Bob Tunks began his racing career the mid 1960's competing in the Super Modified division, the pre-cursor to today’s Sprintcars.
His career highlight was winning the 1968 Australian Super Modified Championship at the Sydney Showgrounds followed by a runner-up position in the 1986 Championship held at Premier Speedway. He also captured five Parramatta track Championships, several State titles, the 1988 Australian Sprintcar Grand Prix and was a regular competitor in World Series Sprintcars until 1999.
Aside from his on-track career, Bob was an active club member and administrator. Elected as Secretary of the NSW Super Modified Association in 1965, Bob was instrumental in the administration of the transition from the Super Modified to the Sprintcar. He served as President of the NSW Association for 40 years, Secretary for 8 years and as a committee member for another two.
