John Titman

Inducted 2022

1977 Australian and 7 Times Queensland Speedway Champion, John Titman is an undoubted speedway legend. The 1978 and 1979 World Finalist and 1983 & 1984 World Longtrack Finalist was the first Australian to ever qualify for the World Longtrack Finals and was the most captained Australian test rider in Australian speedway history.

Titman rode professionally in the England British Top League from 1972 to 1984 before winning the Ambassador for Tourism in Queensland Award for his services in the sport on the global stage.

At that same time, he founded John Titman Racing, supplying parts to the speedway industry including “JTR Speedway Wheels” that have been ridden to three world championship with Jason Doyle and Bartosz Zmarzlik.

After selling the business in 2020, John continues to coach riders to this day, while the family racing legacy continues with his son in Sprintcar racing and grandsons in karting, ensuring that the Titman name will continue to compete for decades to come.
